4.2 Power Saving & Management

CollabOS Power Management helps you deploy your video conferencing rooms in an energy-efficient manner. Take control of your device's energy consumption with features like power savings mode, HDMI CEC support, and auto wake-up.

Logitech CollabOS devices including Rally Bar, Rally Bar Mini, Rally Bar Huddle, RoomMate, Tap IP, and Tap Scheduler support Microsoft Teams Rooms Office Hours and Zoom Rooms Device Operation TimeĀ and Idle Time-Out.

1After 10 minutes of inactivity in the room, the power saving mode will start. Supported TVs will be turned off if they are inactive.

CollabOS devices use CEC to turn displays on and off, we recommend testing your display's CEC support for ensuring compatibility.

Service Provider Settings

CollabOS power management configurations are specific to service provider settings. For Microsoft Teams Rooms and Zoom Rooms please follow the instructions from the service provider.

Microsoft Teams Rooms on Android

When using Teams, the CollabOS power-saving setting is disabled since this setting is managed by the Teams Admin Center.Ā

Office Hours

CollabOS devices will have office hours enabled by default fromĀ  8 am to 5 pm, even if a configuration profile is not pushed. To configure a different office hours setting, create a Teams configuration profile in Teams Admin Center and push it to the device. Here are different scenarios and their corresponding results.Ā 

Idle Mode

Idle mode means that the device wakes up only when it is being used or when motion of people are detected in the room. When there is no activity, motion, or people detected, the device will go to sleep. To enable "Idle Mode" with Teams, you can set a short office hours time span, for example, 07:00 am - 08:00 am. This ensures that the displays are on for only 60 minutes. After that, the device will remain in power saving mode until a meeting is started or motion or people are detected.Ā 

Auto wake up displays when people or motion is detected

If you want the display to turn on automatically when a person or motion is detected, you need to enable CollabOS setting "Auto wake up using AI viewfinder" for people detection and "Auto wake up using Tap sensor" for motion detection. This feature only applies outside scheduled office hours.Ā 

Zoom Rooms

The CollabOS power saving setting is disabled when using Zoom Rooms since the setting is managed by the Zoom device management portal. It is recommended that you turn off the Tap sensor option in CollabOS when using Zoom Rooms.

Control with Schedule

Control with Schedule is a power-saving mode that is managed via the Device Operation Time feature in the Zoom device management portal. It allows you to schedule when the display should turn on and off. You can learn more about how to enable Control with Schedule by following here.

Control with Schedule

Control with Schedule is a power-saving mode that is managed via the Device Operation Time feature in the Zoom device management portal. It allows you to schedule when the display should turn on and off. You can learn more about how to enable Control with Schedule by following here.

CollabOS Device Settings

Configure Power-Savings

You can enable and configure the power-saving features through the on-device settings or Local Network Access when in appliance mode. We make continuous improvements to device power management, so always make sure your device is running the latest CollabOS version. Check the release notesĀ to learn more.

Note:Ā Local Network Access Power-saving features are available under system settings.

Power-saving mode

When enabled, the device will enter power-savingĀ mode after 10 minutesĀ of inactivity. This will shut down the TV (that supports CEC) and Tap Display and the front-of-room device will enter power-saving mode.

Notes:

  • CollabOS power-saving mode will be grayed out when power saving is managed by a service provider.

  • The device can use the AI viewfinder and/or Tapā€™s proximity sensor to detect activity in the room.

  • Microsoft Teams Rooms Office Hours and Zoom Rooms Operation Time will override CollabOS power-savings mode when active.

To enable this feature in appliance mode:

1. Open theĀ Device Settings.

2. Select System.

3. Select Power-saving features.

4. Toggle ā€œON.ā€

Auto Wake-Up

Based on the Service provider application, This feature allows you to control the wake-up trigger from power-savings mode. You can use Logitech Tap sensor or use built-in AI viewfinder.

  • Use Logitech Tap sensor:Ā When Tap or Tap IPĀ is connected to the room system. The device motion sensor will detect user presence in the room and trigger the device wake-up from power-savings mode.

  • Use built-in AI viewfinder:Ā Uses the advanced AI Viewfinder camera on Rally Bar and Rally Bar Mini to detect user presence in the room to trigger device wake-up from power-savings mode.

To enable this feature in appliance mode:

  1. Open the Device Settings.

  2. Select System.

  3. Select Power-saving features.

  4. Select Auto Wake-Up.

  5. Toggle preferred settings ā€œON.ā€

Display Controls

This feature allows you to turn off the connected display when the device enters power savings mode and turn on the display when the device exits the power savings mode.

Note: To use this feature, the display should be connected directly to the HDMI port as recommended in the product wiring diagrams and the connected display should be HDMI CEC compatible. To test if your device is compatible, run a display control test.

To run the test:

1. Open Device Settings.

2. Select System.

3. Select Power Savings.

4. Select Run Display Control Test.

  • The test will initiate by turning off the connected display.

  • Then the device will try to power on the connected display.

  • The test should last 15 seconds.

  • If the test is successful the device will show a confirmation message.
