Extend FAQs

Below you will find a collection of frequently asked questions and answers for Logitech Extend.

If I am using Android Mode on my CollabOS device, and Extend is part of my configuration, will I still be able to use Tap HDMI ingest when Extend is not active?

HDMI Ingest through Tap is supported when Extend is part of the configuration but not actively used by a BYOD computer. Once a BYOD computer utilizes Extend, the device enters BYOD mode and Tap HDMI ingest will be unavailable until the user disconnects Extend from their laptop.

Can Extend be used to share content when not in a video meeting?

The main function of Extend is to allow a laptop to connect to and share its screen on a room display.  When a laptop is connected, its screen will be displayed on the front of the room display.

Is Extend compatible with Rally Bar + Sight configurations?

Yes, Extend supports BYOD configurations with Rally Bar + Sight. It functions similarly to USB Mode, with the addition of front-of-room display passthrough.

Does Extend support dual extended displays (not mirrored) when connected to a Logitech Rally Bar, or will it only utilize one of the displays?

Extend supports single display output.

Can You Use Third-Party USB Cables with Logitech Extend?

While it might seem technically possible to use a third-party active USB cable with the Logitech Extend system, it's not recommended or supported by Logitech.

Third-party active USB cables may work with the Extend system, but due to the lack of certification from Logitech, there is no guarantee of compatibility or performance. Uncertified cables could cause inconsistent performance, connection instability, or signal degradation.

Logitech strongly advises the use of certified original USB cables that are designed, tested, and approved to work seamlessly with Extend solutions.
