Troubleshooting Recommendations for Interference Issues

If you are experiencing connection issues in which your device will only connect when sitting close to the receiver or computer's Bluetooth antenna (within 1ft/30cm), you may be experiencing interference issues.

Please see the following table of contents to navigate through this article.

Troubleshooting

1. For testing purposes, remove the Bluetooth pairing of all the devices but the mouse + keyboard

Unpair the device from Windows Bluetooth configuration:

2. Test if you have the problem with the mouse + keyboard connected through Bluetooth and with the mouse + keyboard connected through the USB  receiver.

When you use the receiver, check that the receiver is connected directly to the USB port of the computer, as opposed to being connected through an adaptor, USB Hub, Monitor’s USB port, Dock station or KVM switch.

Also check that the USB receiver is in direct line of sight with the mouse + keyboard.

  1. Check your computer's drivers are up-to-date. Particularly the USB drivers and Bluetooth drivers. It is recommended in case Windows can find a driver update but bear in mind that Windows would not necessarily be aware there is an updated driver from the computer's manufacturer. So, you would need to check on the computer’s manufacturer’s website too.

And also check that your Operating System has the latest updates installed.

Here are the instructions:

For Bluetooth drivers, it’s similar, except you don’t have to look for “child drivers” with the “Device by connection” feature. You can simply right click on the device’s Bluetooth driver and click “Update driver” and follow the same instructions as above.

4. Test on a different computer.

Recommendation to avoid interference

In order to avoid interference with other wireless devices, please follow these recommendations:

  1. The individual space around each desk should not be less than 0.7m. (this corresponds to an area of 2 square meters for each user).

Thus, the number of desks in an area should be planned as the total area of the area divided by 2. For example, a maximum of 50 desks in a 100m2 room is recommended.

  1. Ideally, there should be as little distance as possible between the mouse + keyboard and the USB receiver. This is to ensure that the USB receiver is in direct line of sight with the mouse.

If you are using a desktop type computer, please avoid  sitting the computer under a desk since it would lower the wireless connection performance. And plug the USB receiver in the front USB panel of the computer, so the receiver is in direct line of sight with the mouse + keyboard.

3. To ensure good connection quality, avoid placing any metallic objects or consumer electronic devices between the USB receiver and the Logitech mouse + keyboard.

4. In the event another receiver needs to be plugged in (for headphones or other wireless devices), use the USB port on the opposite side of the laptop (or the furthest location available), to maximize the distance between the 2 receivers.

5. Check that the Wifi router is not too close to the computer. If you have other 2.4Ghz wireless devices around the computer, please turn off these devices and test if the connection is better.

6. If you are using a USB 3.0 device plugged to the computer, unplug the device. This is to test if your USB 3.0 device is generating noise that affects wireless devices plugged to the computer.
