Programming Buttons and Keys in Options+
After clicking on your device in the carousel, you will now be in the setup page. Depending on your device you will have some features to setup. If your device is a Mouse, Keyboard or a Presenter you will see KEYS or BUTTONS as an option. Click this button if not already highlighted to see which buttons/keys are available to program.
In the examples above, you can see the keyboard has programmable keys which are highlighted in white, and the mouse buttons are labeled.
Quick Button/Key Setup:
Select a button/key to program. You will see a side menu open to the right which shows all the available actions you are able to assign to that key/button.
Select what you want to assign to your button/key by selecting the action.
Action list:
RECOMMENDED: These are typically the preset actions assigned when the device is first installed and set up. For mice there are also Gestures - explained further on.
AI ACTIONS: Actions which start the AI prompt builder or ChatGPT
SMART ACTIONS: The current Smart Actions you have in your manager tab. You can also create a Smart Action within this section
OTHER ACTIONS: Macros and shortcuts for your computer.
Keyboard Shortcut:
Selecting this opens an input window which will capture your keystrokes. You can use this to capture a single key or a key combination such as CTRL+C for example.
Select Keyboard Shortcut.
You should see a flashing cursor next to Press Key Combination
If None is displayed, click the X to the right to clear, then press your key combination.
If you want to change the shortcut from an existing one, click the X to clear, then press your new key combination.
Gestures
Gestures simplify your workflow. You can assign gestures to any mouse button. Hold that button and move up/down/left/right to perform actions such as: navigate windows, control songs and more. Gestures can also be assigned to touchpads.
Gesture Button
If your mouse does not have a button with ‘Gestures’ assigned to it, you can go into the device windows and select the button you want to use and assign it there.
Click on the button you want to use as the Gestures button
On the right side, you will see a list of actions that can be assigned. Look for Gestures. Typically this will be in the RECOMMENDED section.
Once selected, you will be able to choose from a list of predefined profiles (which include actions assigned for all directions) or scroll down to the bottom and select Custom.
Depending on the Gesture profile selected, you will see actions assigned to the 4 directions and the CLICK action. To activate these, hold down the Gesture button then drag the mouse in the direction to fire off the action.
Example 1: Virtual desktops profile
If you hold down the Gestures button and move the mouse left > this will move between Desktops to the left.
If you just tap the Gestures button > this will bring up the Task view, where you can see the different desktops and applications running.
Example 2: Media Controls
Hold down the Gestures button and move the mouse left or right to Previous or Next the track playing.
Hold down the Gestures button and move the mouse up and down to increase/decrease the volume
If you just tap the Gestures button > this will Play/Pause the track.
Custom Gestures
The first time you select this you will see a blank set of Gesture commands:
Click on one of the 5 available boxes (for example HOLD+MOVE LEFT)
This will open a more detailed window where you can select which action you want to assign to that direction.
Assign the actions you want to use, or leave them as Do Nothing
In the example we have:
Calculator assigned to the HOLD+MOVE LEFT
Task view to the HOLD+MOVE RIGHT
Open ChatGPT to the HOLD+MOVE UP
Emojis menu to the HOLD+MOVE DOWN
Middle button to Click
Note: Assigning the Click to the original button is a good way of having that button as a normal click but with it held down - opens up the Gestures actions.
