What to do if the SmartDock firmware update fails
If the firmware update fails, we recommend trying the update again. If it fails for a second time, follow the steps below to reset your SmartDock.
Unplug the power from the SmartDock and disconnect the Surface Pro.
Find the reset button underneath the SmartDock (shown below), then using a paperclip, press and hold the reset button down.
While holding down the reset button, plug the power cable back into the SmartDock.
Wait two seconds, then release the reset button.
Run the update utility again.
