What can I try if Tap is not recognized on my computer?
If you have plugged Tap into a USB port and after several minutes the device is not recognized by the computer, try the following to determine whether it is a connection issue or a hardware problem:
Check the physical connections â make sure all cables and connections are plugged in tightly and correctly.
Try a different USB port â sometimes a USB port on your system may have an issue.
Try a different USB cable if one is available.
In Windows â open Device Manager to check that driver is properly installed. Device Manager in the Windows Operating System (OS) lets you view and control the hardware attached to the computer. When a piece of hardware is not working, it may not be listed or may show a yellow exclamation point (yellow bang) next to the identified hardware to indicate there is an issue.
To access Device Manager:
Click the Windows Start icon.
Type âDevice Managerâ in the search bar to the right of the start icon.
Confirm that Tap is shown under one or all of the following depending on your configuration and setup:
Audio inputs and outputs
Cameras or Imaging Devices
Sound, video and game controllers
Universal Serial Bus devices
If Tap isnât listed under any of the above sections, try the following:
Try a different USB port
Check if Windows Update is enabled. Windows Update is a Microsoft Service which automatically downloads and installs updates over the internet to the OS.
To access and enable Windows Update:Click the Windows Start icon
Type "Windows Update" in the search bar to the right of the start icon.
Note:Windows Update settings are controlled by the Administrator of your system â you may need to contact your IT department if you cannot access Windows Update.
If Tap is listed but has a yellow exclamation point, then try the following:
In Device Manager, right-click on the device with the yellow exclamation icon, (it may be listed as Tap or as an Unknown device), then click Update Driver.
In the Update dialog, select Update Driver.
Select Search automatically for updated driver software.
Select the Logitech Tap driver that is listed.
If you've tried all of these steps and still have an issue, you may have a faulty device or cable. If you have another Tap and can try the cable(s) from that device, we recommend doing that first. If the problem persists, please contact Support.Â
