Logitech CollabOS devices transitioning to Microsoft Intune and Authenticator for Android Device Management
November 15, 2023
Microsoft recently made an announcement about Teams Rooms on Android and Teams Panels. Teams will be transitioning to a new and enhanced device management solution, using Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Authenticator, which leverages Android Open Source Project (AOSP) management. This update will bring a future-proof and more robust device management solution for Teams Rooms on Android.
This change is in response to Google’s deprecation of the Android Device Management in future releases of Android, at which point the current device management solution will no longer be supported. Logitech is actively working with Microsoft on a software update for all CollabOS devices to transition to the new management solution seamlessly.
Additional noteworthy highlights:
All Microsoft Teams-certified CollabOS devices will undergo migration to the new device management solution using Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Authenticator. Logitech will offer a free CollabOS update when the solution is available from Microsoft. Learn more.
At this time, no action is needed by IT administrators. Microsoft Teams-certified Android devices will use the current device management solution until the new device management solution is ready. Learn more.
IT admins must visit the Microsoft Intune portal to create new policies upon availability. For detailed guidance on creating these policies, please see Microsoft Intune admin center Message center and Device compliance settings for Android (AOSP) in Intune.
We are working closely with Microsoft on the migration and anticipate releasing it in the second half of 2024, pending Microsoft’s end-to-end solution validation.
