Interoperability in Google Meet Rooms on Android with Logitech

Google Meet is a fantastic choice for conference rooms, providing seamless video collaboration for group environments. Now, with Google Meet’s interop feature, now available for Google Meet Android for rooms, users can join meetings on platforms like Zoom and WebEx directly from a Google Meet Room. Here’s how it works.

Interoperability on the Google Meet platform addresses the reality that employees sometimes meet on video platforms other than Google Meet. While an organization might use Google Meet company-wide, meetings with people outside the organization might be held with a different provider. With interoperability, users can now seamlessly join meetings on other platforms while still provisioning the room to Google Meet.Ā

On the administrator side, you can enable interoperability in the settings under the ā€œBuilt-in Interoperabilityā€ section of the Google Admin console. For full instructions, visit the Google support article.

On the user side, using direct guest join in a Google Meet Room is straightforward. Just select the ā€œJoin or Start Meetingā€ button, then use the arrow icon on the next screen to access options for other platforms. From there, you can enter your meeting credentials to connect to Zoom or WebEx calls. During the call, the Logitech Tap meeting controller then provides intuitive controls for the camera, volume, and microphone.

Direct Guest Join also syncs seamlessly with Google Calendar. If the room and meeting link are added on the meeting invite, you can easily join the cross-platform meeting with a single touch on the Tap.

This feature will start to gradually rollout for Google Meet on Android on FebĀ 13th, 2025.* This ensures IT teams can offer seamless flexibility to users, regardless of the deployment type. With Logitech and Google Meet, interoperability breaks down barriers to collaboration. For more details, be sure to check out this guide from Google.

*Interoperability is a new feature for Google Meet on Android, but it has been previously available on ChromeOS.
