Navigating the Future of Google Meet Rooms: ChromeOS End of Sale & Transition to Android

On September 1, 2026, Google announced the upcoming end-of-sale date for the Google Meet Compute device and its associated Google Meet on ChromeOS bundles. In alignment with Google’s strategic direction, Logitech will discontinue its Chromebox-based room solutions on February 2, 2027. Google Meet on ChromeOS remains supported through September 2030 for current generation solutions. During this multi-year period, Google Meet on Android will become the primary deployment mode for end users.

Timeline of Events

September 1, 2026: Google announces the upcoming end of sale for the Google Meet Compute and Google Meet on ChromeOS bundles.

February 2, 2027: Logitech room solutions for Google Meet on ChromeOS, including the CTL Meet Compute, will no longer be available for purchase.

What This Means For You

ChromeOS Rooms Remain Supported

If your organization currently uses Google Meet on ChromeOS, your investment remains secure. Crucially, End of Sale does not mean End of Support. Google will maintain stability updates, security patches, and software compatibility through September 2030. Logitech warranties and RMA services remain fully active throughout the product lifecycle. The bundled Meet Compute hardware will continue to receive CTL’s standard 2-year warranty coverage and RMA services, with no changes to the post-sales support model. Logitech Service plans purchased with the Meet on ChromeOS bundle are not affected by the change.

For organizations that plan to continue deploying Google Meet on ChromeOS, it is highly recommended to complete these purchases before February 2027. In particular, high-impact spaces that utilize third-party audio/video solutions should utilize the Logitech Base Bundle for Google Meet on ChromeOS to power these room spaces.

Plan Your Transition to Google Meet on Android

Google Meet on Android solutions, including the Rally Board 65 and the Rally Bar family of devices, will become the standard deployment model for Google Meet hardware going forward.
