Smart Switching: The New Benchmark in Video Collaboration

Last year, we introduced Logitech Sight, creating a front-and-center experience for hybrid meetings by connecting the Rally Bar or Rally Bar Mini at the front of the room with Logitech Sight at the center of the table. Since that introduction, Sight has transformed how remote participants see, hear, and connect to the action happening around the table.Ā

Next, weā€™re excited to further transform this experience with our latest feature: Smart Switching.

What is Smart Switching?

Imagine a typical meeting with both in-room and remote participants. As the discussion moves around the conference room table, Sight provides a close-up view from the center of the action. With the introduction of Smart Switching, as in-room participants turn to engage with remote participants on the display at the front of the room, the camera feed switches to the front-of-room feed. Then, when the conversation shifts back to those in the room, the feed returns to the center-of-table view. This seamless transition between front and center camera feeds, done for each individual, represents the next evolution in connecting remote participants with those in the room.Ā

Smart Switching, Powered by AI on Logitech Devices

A key differentiator of the Logitech portfolio has always been our software, powered by artificial intelligence. With Smart Switching, both Rally Bar and Sight use a series of algorithms to detect people in the room, determine positioning, then switch feeds. Letā€™s take a look at exactly how it works.Ā

Weā€™ll start with Sight. Using its 315-degree field of view, Sight determines the position of people sitting around the table.Ā

The Rally Bar or Rally Bar Mini at the front of the room does the same, determining the position of people in the room. Then, the key is the communication between Sight and Rally Bar, allowing them to synchronize and agree on the position of each individual.

Once the cameras agree on the individualsā€™ positions, they track the direction each person is facing and switch the feed as the conversation moves between the front and center of the room.Ā

Itā€™s a Benchmark in Video Collaboration

The introduction of Smart Switching ushers in a new era of video collaboration. Multi-camera systems, assisted by software, can revolutionize meeting experiences in a way that hasnā€™t been seen before. With Smart Switching, employees can experience a new level of face-to-face communication, facilitating better conversations, better collaboration, and more productivity.Ā
