3.9 Logitech Sight Smart Switching and Dual Sight Support

Smart Switching

Smart Switching dynamically switches between the front-of-room and center-of-table camera video streams based on the direction participants face, ensuring a constant, front-facing view of people in the room.

Understanding Smart Switching features:

  • Switching Zone

    • Only participants within the designated switching zone (red) will be switched between the Rally Bar and the Sight camera stream based on their head pose.

Those seated at the head of the table will be framed by Sight (green). This ensures that participants further away from the front-of-room video bar are captured by the camera which will produce the best image quality.

Setup Requirements

  • Logitech Sight connected to a Rally Bar or Rally Bar Mini.

    • Sight with CollabOS 1.13 or higher.

    • Rally Bar or Rally Bar Mini with CollabOS 1.13 or higher.

  • We suggest establishing a camera zone in rooms with glass walls.

  • We recommend setting up Sight at least 2.5 meters away from the Rally Bar or Rally Bar Mini.

Note: A future CollabOS update will lower the minimum threshold.

Enabling Smart Switching

Set Rally Bar and Rally Bar Mini to Speaker View mode, and make sure Smart Switching is enabled.

Note: Smart Switching is disabled by default in CollabOS 1.13 and will be enabled by default in a future update.

  • To set to Speaker View mode:

    • Zoom Rooms Appliance

      • On Zoom Rooms Controller > Camera controls > Speaker Focus

    • Teams Rooms on Android

      • Select Active Speaker from the Smart Camera Control

    • Teams Room on Windows, Zoom Rooms for Windows, Google Chromebox, or USB Mode / BYOD

Known Behaviors

  • When Smart Switching is enabled, the system will always show the 4 most recent speakers. When Smart Switching is disabled, Sight automatically drops non-active speakers.

  • The image quality of Rally Bar and Sight devices can differ. Factors such as the distance between the devices and participants and lighting sources may cause these differences. Future CollabOS updates will aim to minimize image quality variability.

  • Sight will detect and frame people seated within a 3-meter (10-foot) radius. When Smart Switching is enabled, a designated camera zone only applies to Rally Bar. If a camera zone is set but disabled, it will automatically enable when a call starts.

Getting started with Dual Sight Support

Dual Sight Support with Rally Bar and Rally Bar Mini brings more participants into view and creates a more inclusive meeting experience. This feature is especially useful for larger "bowling alley"–style meeting rooms, providing increased coverage through multiple camera angles and better framing of participants.

Pre-requisites

  • 2 Logitech Sights connected to a Rally Bar or Rally Bar Mini.

    • Rally Bar or Rally Bar Mini with CollabOS 1.15 or higher.

    • Sight with CollabOS 1.15 or higher. To update Sight, follow the instructions here.

    • Refer to Sight Wiring Diagrams here.

Supported Platforms & Camera Mode

  • Teams Rooms on Windows:

    • Set camera mode to “Speaker View” in Sync Portal or using the Sync app.

  • Teams Rooms on Android:

    • Select the Active speaker option under the Automatic framing option.

  • Zoom Rooms for Windows (Appliance Mode):

    • Select “Intelligent Director” under Camera Control.

  • Google Meet on Android:

    • Select RightSight 2 “Speaker View” using CollabOS device settings or LNA or Sync.

    • And select “Framing by Logitech” on the Google Meet Camera control UI.

  • BYOD Mode:

    • Set camera mode to “Speaker View” in Sync Portal or using the Sync app.

Updating device software

  1. Update Rally Bar first without Sight being connected.

    1. To update the Rally Bar follow the instructions listed here.

  2. Connect Sight (1) (Sight closest to Rally Bar)

    1. Connect Sight (1) to power and data cable to the USB-A to the Rally Bar, and Sight (1) will be updated automatically.

    2. For devices used in USB mode, use the latest version of Sync App to trigger the update.

  3. Update Sight (2) (Furthest from Rally Bar)

    1. In CollabOS 1.15, Sight (2) needs to be manually updated using the Sync app on a Windows laptop. In a future CollabOS release, this will not be necessary as Rally Bar will automatically update both connected Sights.

    2. Connect Sight (2) to power and data cable to the USB-A to a Windows laptop running the latest Sync App, using the included Sight dongle. Follow the instructions listed here when Sight (2) is connected to the PC.

Remote participant experience

  • Zoom Rooms Appliance

    • Enable Zoom Intelligent Director with the following instructions.

      • 3 Stream in total

        • Stream 1: Room View from the Rally Bar.

        • Stream 2: Sight (1) closest to the Rally Bar will frame up to 4 people within its area of coverage and will Smart Switch depending on the framed individual's body pose.

        • Stream 3: The Sight (2) furthest from Rally Bar will also frame up to 4 people within its area of coverage, but does not Smart Switch between other cameras.

  • Teams Rooms on Windows

    • Enable Speaker View using Sync App camera settings.

  • Teams Rooms on Android

    • Enable the Active speaker option under camera

  • Google Meet on Android , BYOD

    • Select RightSight 2 “Speaker View” using CollabOS device settings or LNA or Sync.

    • And select “Framing by Logitech” on the Google Meet Camera control UI.

Known issues & limitations

  • General

    • You must follow device placement distances - first Sight 2.5m from Rally Bar/Mini, and second Sight 2.5m from first Sight.

  • Video

    • When someone sits between the two Sight devices, the system may fail to detect them or may detect them in both camera streams simultaneously.

    • When using Zoom Rooms Intelligent Director camera mode with two Sight devices connected to a Rally Bar or Rally Bar Mini, the second Sight device (furthest from the Rally Bar) will continue sending its video stream to the Zoom meeting even when no people are detected in its view.

  • System

    • When Rally Bar is rebooted, Sight (2) will not restart automatically—you must restart it manually.
